Clobracon competely replaced the entire building envelope of a 9-storey, 120-unit seniors’ residence. Inherent in the project were extremely difficult site conditions, as the building could never close down nor could any residents be displaced as a result of the construction. At some stages of the work, the only physical barrier between the residents and the construction site was the half inch of existing drywall inside the residential units!
All existing exterior finishes (including the structural support lintels at each floor) and building insulation was completely replaced. New membranes, as well as custom-made aluminum extrusions and moldings, were used extensively to ensure the integrity and performance of the new building envelope system. The balconies were equally renovated, with new walls, glass handrails, and carpeting.
